These web sites (mylocalsmallbusiness.com and mlsb.org) are owned and managed by Whitedream Software. We are a privately owned company and not a limited company. We are registered with the Data Protection Registrar.

This privacy policy sets out how Whitedream Software uses and protects any information that you give when you use this website.

Whitedream Software is fully committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Any data you provide by which you can be identified when using this website will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement and the GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018.

Whitedream Software may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy was last updated and effective from 3rd December 2022.

All information submitted to the My Local Small Business web site is made public via your pages that you create. The only exceptions are:

• Your password, which is encrypted.
• Your email address (unless you have decided to publish it on your minisite).
• A unique security ID (a set of numbers and letters that identify you on our servers)

Note: MLSB staff have no direct access to your password. We do not require it and we will not ask for your password. Your password is only used by you to log on to the web site.

Also note: We only contact you via email. Please keep it up to date.

What information we store about you

We store the following information:

• Your details we ask you when you sign up to create your account. This includes:
  • Your personal name as the contact person who set up and maintains the account.
  • Your business contact details that you give us; your business name, addresses, telephones and e-mail address (including the type of business).
• Your chosen content to build you pages. This includes the text, images and provision for visitors to contact you.
• We keep a log of the general activity whilst you are accessing your account and modifying your minisite. It also includes visitors to your site who are sending you messages or accessing areas that require registration. This is for security for both you and us. We focus on unusual activity (ie. hacking)

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information for the following reasons:

• Giving you a service for showing prospective customers and clients about your business.
• Internal record keeping.
• To display in our online business directory (found in mlsb.org)
• We may use the information to improve our services.
• We may periodically notify you about new features, special offers, change in terms and conditions, policies or other information which we think you may find interesting and useful using the e-mail address which you have provided or in our internal messaging system, or in the news section in the accounts page.

Resigning Your Account

You can remove your account at any time.

Your details may remain in our database for around 1 to 3 months, until a general maintenance is taken. After which, your details are completely removed (though our backup procedures may have your details for longer). We will not use your details during this time for any purpose.

How we use cookies and your IP address

A cookie is a small file which is stored on your computer's hard drive, which links you computer to our site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. Whitedream Software does not store any tracking details on any cookies made by us.

We also use your IP address for statistical analysis purposes about web page traffic. We do this for all visitors to our web sites.

We may also use 3rd party cookies from advertisers. This is done by the advertisers directly and only where adverts are displayed on the pages. Most web browsers automatically accept these cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer.

Third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your browser, or using web beacons to collect information, in the course of ads being served on our website.

Our website contains links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over other websites. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Selling Your Details

We DO NOT sell or pass on your company and personal information to third parties. This may change in the future, though it is unlikely. We will change our privacy policy if this happens and inform you in advance. This will be an OPT-IN process and we will not give your information to other without your consent.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. A small fee of £2 will be payable. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please contact us using the 'contact us' page.

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, try correcting it yourself in your accounts page or please contact us as soon as possible. We will correct any information found to be incorrect as soon as possible.

Our servers will keep a history of all email messages, including any messages you send.

If you wish us to modify any details on your account you must use the same email that we have in our records (the one you used when you signed up or you may have updated since signing up). Please include your username or other information to identify you, but NOT your password.

We try very hard to reply to any email as soon as possible.
